    S50+E36 m3 trans = what shift linkage??

I Read the long thread at the top and I saw some references to using E30 shift linkage with the E36 trans to fit in the cars. Can someone clarify or tell me exactly which shift linkage will work? I am putting these parts in a '91 381is, so if the parts off that trans work that would be great.

    thanks

    Dave

use the linkage for whatever tranny you're using.

if you're using an e36m3 tranny, use the entire linkage from that
if you're using an e36 non-m tranny, use the entire linkage from that
if you're using a getrag 260, use the entire linkage from that

        you get the idea.

thanks Addissimo, that's what I was looking for. Wasn't sure if they all had the same fitment through the E30 shifter hole.

I'm doing an M30 swap on my E30, So I guess I need the shift linkage from that E28 transmission?

Jared Squires had used the E30 shift linkage if i'm not mistaken. I dont know if you know him... I know he's on the forum.

I have a zf trans. I used the 260 shifting arm, straight selector rod, and a z4 shift lever. The only zf item I used was the bearing bolt.

Everything works just fine, sits right were its suppose to be.

Yes and I even had to use the E36 carrier but it might have been because I had an early car with the older stamped steel behind.

when I tried to use the e36 carrier with the 260 tranny, nothing came close to lining up.

Well, see, the thread was about using an S50 with the S50 tranny. I also have an S50 with an S50 tranny. Therefore I cant speak of whether or not the E36 carrier would work with an E30 tranny. I just know it works with an S50 and the S50 tranny.
