Need help. O2 heater ground melted

    Gents,

I am having an issue with the O2 heater ground wire melting. When i installed the engine, I drove the car for a few days without issue. One day in the driveway, the ground wire (grounded by the DME) melted causing a huge mess in the wiring harness. I rewired it and drove the car for 500-750 miles without incident. One night, it did the same thing. It just melts the ground wire from the DME to the O2 heater relay.

Since then, I removed the relay and have driven the car another 1-1500 miles or so without incident. I really want to get this resolved to avoid issue. The car runs fine not but the idle/ drive-ability suffers when cold.

    -S52 OBDI
-O2 wiring is perfect. No issues, not cut, pinched or grounded wires.
-O2 heater/relay wiring is fine. No identifiable issues.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Do you possibly have a ground hooked to power by accident somewhere? Possibly related or not, but the first time we had my motor all hooked up, we had a ground hooked to power by accident, and as soon as we hooked up the battery, it melted a wire all the way from the oil level sensor down at the pan up to the main harness up on the firewall.

I really don't think so. Didn't rewire anything when we installed the engine. I'm kind of at a loss. No idea what could be causing this... man, its annoying!

ECU prob has issues. Another reason the 413's are annoying. Open and inspect for corrosion/water damage. THis causes all sorts of crazy issues.

I'll have to look again but, I don't remember anything out of the ordinary in or around the ECU. I assume if it were the ECU I'd be experiencing another issue/ symptoms. No?

I mean in addition. Maybe it's worth trying another 413
