I recently purchased a non-running '95 525i for it's interior. After sorting out some wiring issues related to the fuel pump relay circuit I managed to start the car. It idled rough and rich as hell and really struggled to rev past 1500 rpm. After swapping out every Motronic system component I could from my '95 DD the car still ran the same, no change. For shits and giggles I decided to remove the damper and hub to see if the damper was separated or the hub key was missing. The hub bolt was tightened to MAYBE 25ft/lbs. The hub was tough to pull off of the crank, and this is what I found underneath:

The key had sheared and was in small chunks trapped in the slots, allowing the hub to rotate on the crank, thus delivering a shitty CPS signal to the DME.
