Yeah the silver 413 is EWS. Just get an aftermarket chip and you are good to go. Turner has a 413 chip without EWS fo sho.
    Im now E30less.

      You have EWS

I ran into the same problem, I swapped my Ecu with the burgandy tag.
Plugged it in and started the sucker up

You don't necessarily have EWS II.. I have a silver label 413 and it does NOT have it. What is the production date of your motor? You can look that up with the VIN number sticker that should be on it. 12/94+ had EWS II, 11/94 and earlier didn't.

Go here and plug in the last 7 digits of your VIN: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

If I read your last 7 digits correctly off of the DME in the picture then your production date is 05/1995.

Just buy a fucking chip. You don't even need to buy a Turner chip, just find a stock M50 chip. Nobody would ever want to trade an EWS for a non-EWS computer.

So any M50 chip from before 12/94 will eliminate EWS?

So long as its for a vanos M50. I'm sure someone has their stock chip laying around after replacing it with a Turner/whatever chip.
