I am not doing the head gasket, but as you can tell, I am doing a lot of other gaskets, etc...My valve cover gasket has already been checked, and I am not sure if I am going to be able to get m52/s52 manifolds or have to stick with m50 ones, so I am not purchasing the gaskets for that yet.

Don't get that Graf waterpump. I have had 2 defective ones. Get the one from the dealer.

are you talking about the exhaust manifolds? you will want the m50 exhaust manifold gaskets either way......there is no hole in the gasket for the air pump that the obd2 cars require.

dont forget to reseal your trans and engine....MUCH easier now.

rear engine crank seal (common leak spot.)
        front engine crank seal
        trans input seal
trans output seal (common leak spot.)
trans shift selector rod seal (called a shaft seal, common leak spot)

Oh, thought I read last night someone posted what exhaust gaskets to use with the m52 headers. They said to go with the m52 gaskets from what I believe.

            Edit: read wrong.

You need the holes on the manifolds welded up and machined down so its a flat surface. You can use the M52 gaskets...you're using M52 manifolds. Aren't the M50 ones smaller, anyways?

Ok, I wasnt sure on that. Thought the m52 ones were bigger in diameter, and thus i would need gaskets to make it even. Ive known about the holes in them, and ill get that taken care of as well. Thanks

head castings for the m52/s52/m50/s50 are identical except for the temp sender. i have used m52 tube headers w/ m50 gaskets. the gaskets are nearly identical except for the air pump hole. yes you should weld a plug on the air pump hole .....or cut off the tubing and weld that shut as the easy route.

                cheers, jason

$71 is pretty much the lowest you're gonna get the Geniune BMW waterpump. Check out bfbmw.com, or get BMA Parts to order a genuine one for you. I got mine from BMA.

The OE part has a composite blade, unlike the Graf or Geba which have cast impellers, that put a good amount of strain on the bearings, which usually causes premature failure.

so should it be M50 or M52 exhaust gaskets on S50 with S52 headers? I should start writing this stuff down

M50/S50 gaskets on any manifold you use.

What I just posted is the correct info. Anything before was a lie or correct, but we were in the debating stages so it was confusing to read.

I say conflicting because I started a thread about the gaskets 3 das ago and got a different answer:

                              Either one will work.

                              S50 3 need
                              S52 2 need
