    Driveshaft vibration and clicking...

Hey guys, guess ill start with my setup: M52 with ZF trans and E36 drive shaft.

Ok so as the title states I am getting a clicking from around the Ujoint. I just replaced my E21 trans mounts with the AKG aluminum cups because one of them was almost sheered in half... Also noticed that my flex disk is getting some cracks in it as well. I have only been driving the car for maybe a year at most just city/highway no track time (yet).

My thoughts are that its due to vibration but I don't want to keep throwing parts at this problem and hope it fixes it.

I am leaning toward it being a bad Ujoint but if thats the case could it have gone bad due to some sort of misalignment? It does take some persuasion to get the tranny mounts in.

Any advice would be nice, has anyone else had this problem??

    Thanks!

    U-joints don't last forever.

Getting to be a very common problem. Have your driveshaft rebuilt and your vibrations will go away. You also won't tear up the flex disk.

Trans mounts shearing could be due to engine mounts not being aligned. I have seen the front mounts in the wrong hole on one side thus lifting the drivers side of the engine/trans and thus stressing the trans mount. Unbolt your trans mounts and see if the transmission rests flat on the mounts evenly side to side. If it is sitting up off the mount on one side then you need to address the engine mounts.

Any chance you have raceland headers and you've got shimmed motor mounts to clear the front subframe?
