Any difference between the 2002 and 320i boosters as far as performance?
Anyone know what the already converted Zionsville Autosport booster is made from?

The brake booster has nothing to do with locking the rears up before the fronts (which is a serious condition that needs to be addressed). All it does is assist with the transfer of forces to the master cylinder (see below). If you can explain how, in a system like this, that you can increase rear bias (or reduce front bias) by using an E21 booster, I would love to hear it.

You should have no issue with an E21 booster.

agreed. ummmm......that diagram is a little off though. the vacuume is on the wrong side of the diaphram. the vacuume is to pull the diaphram towards the master....(assisting the force from the pedal.) cheers, jason

What are the diameters of the E21 and ix boosters? Which one is smaller?

i believe the E21 booster is smaller. I bought both and went with the E21 due to it's size. It fit in my car with zero clearance issues on the S50 intake manifold. I didn't take measurements, but once I placed the ix booster in the car it was a no brainer for me. You will most likely have to remote mount your reservoir on YOUR swap no matter which booster you go with. But you'll definitely have to remote mount with the ix booster. I don't know how far out your intake setup comes in relation to an S50, and I have a feeling your motor sits at a different angle than the S50, more similar to our beloved S14's!

Just bumping this one way back up - anyone got the tap size on the bolt for the booster rod?

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

Hi Ron V. And others too. Here's a nice link that tells it all.

Ron, you may want to contact Cahsel for a 2002 brake booster. Located in Netherland.
Or 2002faq.com, the US 2002 forum.
The 2002Tii is even smaller in diameter than a regular 2002 booster. A tad bit longer though.

I believe the 2002 Tii brake booster is only around 7" diameter.
