exhaust suggestion for s50 on e30

will a double 2.5 be too big for an s50?

looking for exhaust pics or setups tested for a s50 onto an e30, it have ebay headers double 2.25 with an x pipe 2.25 on each side, with 1 resonator on each 2.25 pipe and end up in a single 2.5" till muffler(single 2.5)

thinking to go double from resonators on 2.25 or 2.5 all the way back to muffler (double in/ double out).

    any ideas?

dual 2.5 is huge. I'd do single 2.5 or 3 or dual 2.25

FWIW I am running a single 2.5" and it seems ideal. Dual is too big.

Also, if going dual exhaust, run an x pipe in it or it will sound like 2 3cylinder engines.

                bumping this.

I want to run a full 2.5 system off my Ebay S52 headers, which have two 1.75" pipes. The only y pipes I can find (stainless) are from columbia river and they have dual 1.75 Inlet/ single 2.25 outlet. they dont make a 2.5.

I know I can bump it up to 2.5 after that transistion but Id rather not.. and is anybody running a single 2.25 system? is that too small? its a stock s50 with the ebay headers, like said. .. no other mods

The shop that did my swap built a 2 1/2 single based on the recommendations here, I think they got the 2-1 piece for mine from Summit maybe?
You could run 2.5 but 2.5 is recommended, you'll wish you had done it later.

To make my ebay headers work I welded a couple of 2"-2.25" pipe connectors into a flowmaster 2.25->3" Y pipe, essentially making a big, ugly dual 2" to single 3" pipe. I'm sure something similar could be done to go to a single 2.5".

                        We typically do headers-ypipe-single 2.5-resonator-muffler.
                        Or dual 2"-xpipe-dual2.25-dual cats-ypipe-single2.5-muffler.

I use long tube headers to a y pipe. Then it's full 3" with one 3" resonator and a 3" muffler. I like the sound.

I wasnt even thinking about the resonator... Will I be stupid annoying without one? I was planning on running a y pipe to 2.5" and no cat, and a Borla or Magnaflow single inlet/dual outlet muffler.. We ordered all the stainless pipe , Y pipe, and bends from columbia river mandrel http://www.mandrel-bends.com/catalog...FQLxOgodaEcANg

Im going to document the whole process and post it up here. We just got into custom stainless exhausts at the shop I work at, We did a real nice system on a 58 chevy custom truck, and two Vee dubs.. All TIG welded stainless.

If you got one of their 2 (1.75") to 1 (2.25") parallel merge collectors, it seems like you could cut enough off of the merged end to go from 2.25" diameter to 2.5" diameter.
