I've attempted to figure out why my s52 isn't cranking but I've hit a dead end.
Car in question is an 84 318 with an obd1 swapped s52.
running a Silver label 506 DME with a Dinan chip (I've read some inconsistent info regarding whether this ECU has EWS or not, some say it has EWS, some say it doesn't) Chip is installed correctly.
I've checked my grounds, engine is grounded, starter is grounded. I'm getting 12v to the large stud on the starter, and switched 12v to the two smaller ones (medium and small stud) when I turn the key to crank.
I smacked the starter with a wrench and turned over the engine to free up the starter, no change
Battery I'm using is new, I even hooked up a second battery using jumper cables, no change.
I'm getting 12v to pin 30 and pin 86 on the main relay, not sure if that's needed to crank.
So far my only ideas are that either the ECU has EWS1 and that EWS wire needs to be clipped, or the starter is bad.
Help?
