OBD1 Conversion, can OBD2 coolant hardline be used?

As the title states, is it possible to use the OBD2 coolant hardline on an OBD1 converted engine?

Everyone seems to use the rubber OBD1 rubber lines and either an OBD1 front timing cover/oil filter housing or adapter to run the rubber lines.

After looking at the diagrams a bit, it seems to be that the OBD2 metal pipes can be used with the right combination of hoses - or am I missing something here?

Seems more logical to use a metal pipe for reliability rather than using the rubber lines.

The original poster of that OBD1 swap thread many moons ago decided that needed to be in there mistakenly. I run the OBD2 coolant pipe on OBD1 engines sometimes too because its so much less annoying and leak prone.

Cliffs: Run the OBD2 pipe with factory E36 hoses for the most part.

I cut the end of my OBD2 hardline at the water pump and used that with a clamp instead of getting the adapter piece. Worked fine for me

I never understood why it was required to be changed, never made any sense.
