    M52 Rad/Viscous

    Hi All,

I have an E30 with an m52 conversion with an electric fan and 328i radiator.

Has anyone done the M52 conversion and fitted a viscous fan rather than electric?

I have a bmw diesel fan which is quite thin but the space is still very limited. Is there another thinner radiator option?

    Thanks,

    Bhups

yes - common to have the viscous fan. i have it on mine. have about 1/2 inch clearance between fan and radiator.

search is your friend - you will need trans mount cups to prevent drivetrain movement forward/backward, or another method of securing the engine from moving.

What booster do people run with that much fan clearance? I have a stick vioster moved over a half inch and the revshift mounts .. the motor wants to sit forward so the intake clears. the booster even with the fins shaved off. I mocked up a fan and its very tight

Mines almost touching. How are your mounts positioned? In the slotted holes and clocked to face forward?

My car must have been smoked in the front and rebuilt.. the front clip has newer paint on it and Ive always had fan clearance issues.. even with the M20.
My S50 is almost all the way to the firewall and I have no room to even get a fan clutch to fit
