    Part installation question M50 NV

    Hey,

I ordered a part for the coolant system on my m50 and because ive been away from the car for months, im wondering if this part can be installed without removing the engine. I can remember it being a tight fit so im not sure if the firewall will be a problem.

It'll be tight but you'll be able to get it with a box wrench. Put the bolts and gasket on the outlet before you sneak it back there. Put a thin coat of RTV between the gasket and outlet to help keep it in place.

Just hope the old paper style gasket will want to come off. Mine was fused to the block.

Thanks for the replies. I actually had the part off because it snapped lowering the engine in the bay. Had it welded up and it snapped again somehow, weak weld I think. So the surface should be fairly clean, I think I used rtv to put on the second time.

You should be good. Thinking back, that gasket came off in one pc with a little prying. It was the damn oil pan gasket that didn't want to come off lol
