I like to have the back end of the car pointing down hill if possible while filling to help purge all the air out. You should also have the heat pointing at full blast HOT.

I tried that before I buttoned everything up, does the same thing. Makes no sense as to why bubbles are coming from that bottom reservoir line.

Still a mystery as to how the car was fine the day before

As said raise front of car at least 12". try to pre fill heater core, remove top radiator hose and fill radiator, then other end and fill engine.
        turn heat/fan to max.
Remove overflow hose from radiator and bleed through it since there isn't a proper bleed screw.
        keep xpansion tank full !

Knock on wood, but I think its good now! I just took off the top radiator hose and filled it up with water till it came out of the top radiator inlet. Been running it for several minutes now and its not spitting out water or getting warm at all (since I have no T-stat in at the moment)

yeah sounds like your baby just needed to be burped this doesn't happen right away when filling though I usually keep the cap off while I rev the motor to bring up the OT then all of sudden you will see the water level go as it fills the heater core (when burp occurs). You will have to do it again now to get that T stat back in there.

I would run it on 50/50 yellow antifreeze add wetter if you feel the need.

I should be able to throw the tstat in and just fill it up from the top rad hose again?

I run just distilled and water wetter

does water weeter prevent corrosion? I only ask because I don't use it never had the need. If not you could have future problems.

Well distilled water doesn't cause corrosion.
I also heard water wetter fights corrosion as well.

I would think distilled water could easily cause rust however if the weeter fights it then use it. I just live in area that if you don't have coolant you may wake up to a split block plus i don't want it rusting inside out.

There is no dissolved oxygen in distilled water and oxygen needs to be present for corrosion, look into it.

I'm in CA so freezing isnt a worry

                        yeah lucky on that part.

I use the distilled water but I use it to assure it isn't contaminated with minerals.

I drilled a 1/16 hole in my Tstat, no problem bleeding the cooling system. I would suggest this if you have not done it already.
