    ZF + M20 clutch/flywheel (I searched)

I can't seem to find a consensus about what to do with my swap.

I have a ZF 310 but it should mount physically the same as the ZF 320. I have a single mass M20 flywheel (shaved down the oil pan) with a spec stage 5 unsprung.

Do I have to use the M20 TO bearing or the E36 one?
Some people say to swap out the shift forks. Others make no mention. What do?
M50 slave cylinder should work fine right?

What else needs to be done to make this combo work?

That story follows up weird. I've heard if you have a ZF you NEED a ZF throw out bearing .

But he claims to have used a TB from an e30.

I compared the M20 and M50 throw out bearings. They will both work and are very close in measurements. I think the m20 is about 3mm "taller" and has a wider diameter by about 2mm. I tried both on the pressure plates and they seemed to not make a difference with contact area.

Ill probably end up going with the ZF one for the ZF Trans.

But you say the m20/G260 one has a larger contact area?

yea. technically the inner diameter of the pressure plate prongs is bigger on the M20 clutch. They also stick farther out to make up the stack height difference from the dual mass M3 E36 flywheel.

Well larger contact area meaning the circle is bigger. I'm sure the amount of contact is the same.

So your saying the m20 TB is preferred with the ZF Trans?

I'm gonna be running a 1995 M3 ZF Trans with M20 Flywheel and Clutch. And the M20 TB would be preferred with this setup, as it will take up any extra stack height lost when the Dual mass flywheel was removed .

              Thanks!

You're thinking too hard about it. Simply put: Use the throwout bearing that came with your clutch.

The single mass clutch setup has taller fork prongy thingies to make up for the shorter stack height.
