That thread needs to die a horrible death. It's a complete mess of questions and answers that may or may not even be right that you can't even search through.

This is what I noticed when I first started my swap.. I asked a few simple questions on the forum that I thought were unanswered when I searched, and people just flamed me for not searching.. I guess thats how R3v rolls

                  True.

My feeling on the subject is not much has really changed on a regular OBD-I swap since the late 1990s. Information emerged from these swappers in the early 2000s to the public domain. Yes, there's no real reason to have a litany of the same questions answered over and over again, as the answers to many of these same exact questions already exist.

I don't think it's healthy to tell everyone to search. I also don't think it's cool for people to roll in here and ask, "I have an E36. What do I need to swap it into an E30?" Some people definitely need to search. Some people don't need to search. Some people need to stop telling other people to search.

What DOES continue to be an issue is people with driveability issues that are borne from strange wiring / grounding problems that may be native to the harness itself (broken wires, burned out ground resistors, etc). The solutions to these problems are myriad in nature. These engines are old, and weird shit happens to them in storage, in removal, or during installation.

The DOHC Wiki continues in my opinion to be the most concise resource on OBD-I swaps if you don't want to peruse a 100 page thread on it. I gave it much of its backbone and a lot of people contributed to it already. It may not be infallible, but it at the very least allows you to scope out what you need to know, and hopefully gets the gears grinding in your head as to the system by which you ought to tackle a swap.
