    Steering Rack

I know this isn't the appropriate section for this but this is where I've been getting the best results.

I currently swapped a M52 with a 97 M3 steering rack. Question is what power steering lines I'd need to match the rack with the PS pump.

My setup has had the stock m20 lines with both my m20 and my s50.. its an e36 rack. There was some slight bending needed and one line makes a long loop and touches the oil pan but its ok

I used all e36 lines in my m52 swap with an e36 rack. This was mostly because I had all the lines with the donor car and it made everything easy.

I used the E36 high pressure line since it has a coil for better cooling. I made my own low pressure lines, with the old M50 banjo bolt connections and t-clamps.

We use all E36 lines in our shop. However, M20 lines will work too with bending and force

Thanks for the responses but checking different e36 models.. The part number all change for the HIGH pressure hoses. That's what is blocking me. I don't know which one to get.

Im using a 97 328 PUMP with a 97 M3 rack.. I have E36 325is lines and they won't match up. The 328 has a different hook up configuration compared to the rest of the E36 family. Look at the pump I have. There is a suction tube going from the bottle directly to pump. Other E36 pumps have a banjo fitting on the suction tube.

The pressure outlet on the pump is a bigger thread then the 325, M3 outlets. On the M3 rack there is a large and small banjo fitting.

Its taken care of. For the M52 steering pump you cannot use any E36 HIGH PRESSURE line. It has to be the one that goes with that pump.

Any '96 on high pressure hose has the right connections for the pump on a '96+ pump, but they don't fit well at all. I am having a hose made this week, E30 hose with the larger banjo fitting on the pump end. This will fit like it did on the m20. If you have a M50 just use the E30 hose.
