    DS alignment?

How do you guys make sure your DS is aligned correctly in the horizontal and vertical, just eyeball it? Its so hard to tell when your lying on your back underneath the car and the DS is 6 inches from your face. I just wondered if there was a trick to it.

This is a cool article. http://www.angelfire.com/pa3/lyzcoinc/alignshaft.html

But as long as you installed everything right I.E. the CSB facing the right way it should be good to go.

I did this recently and it made a huge difference in vibration and noise that I didn't even realize I had until it was gone. Here are the steps I did:

Removed the DS side hardware from the guibo and then rotated the DS by hand.

It was fairly obvious that the guibo and trans output flange didn't mate perfectly mostly in the vertical plane.

I added a washer under the trans mounts and one under the CSB mounts and then the two faces mated perfectly.

I have about 5mm of spacers under each engine mount to keep my headers off the subframe which is probably the reason my DS didn't line up just right.

Also notable that I am using the DS from a zf320 car which has both u-joints on the rear half of the DS. I remember the G260 DS being different.

Prior to doing this my car had a noticeable but not terrible vibration under high torque. There was also some harmonic noise at freeway speeds that I thought was just road noise until aligning my drive shaft and getting that new silky smooth feel.
