    Name that Sensor

I am installing the wiring harness on my S52 and cant figure out what the two sensors are in the pics below. One is below the starter, maybe some kind of flywheel sensor. The other is easy to see but i dont know what it is, its located to the side and above the alternator. Can anyone ID them please?

007.jpg is the crank position sensor for the S52. It's used in the OBD2 setup but not the OBD1 setup if you've swapped to that.

006.jpg The only sensor I see is the oil pressure dummy sensor.

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Ok two questions. One, in 007, if thats the crank position sensor for OBD2 what is the sensor for on the crank pulley at the front of the engine? Mine is missing and i assumed that was the crank sensor position and it was just missing when i bought my engine. Is that the OBD1 location and its not used in an OBD2 setup?

Two, why is it called an oil pressure dummy sensor and if that is oil pressure what is the sensor at the bottom of the oil pan?

I don't remember much about the OBD2 setup so I hope someone chimes in. IIRC the S52 has the sensor on a mini trigger wheel on the crank and uses that for the crank position sensor. You still have the balancer on the front but I don't believe you have a sensor for it. I don't think the sensor was missing when you bought it. I don't think S52s HAVE them.

The dummy light is the pressure light on your cluster that goes off if oil pressure is below something like 10psi (some like OH FUCKING SHIT number). The one in the oil pan is the oil level sensor that tells you if you are physically low on your amount of oil.

007 is crank position sensor for OBD2 M/S52 motors. S52's never came with a sensor on the front crank pulley.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. Is either the oil pressure or oil level used in the swap? I mean like wired into the E30 cluster and functional?

They both are used and work yes.

They can be. don't NEED to be. Good ideas though.
