    Finish with my S52 swap

Hey guys, just wanted to share to you all my s52 swap. Ive went thur 3 motors before this, an M20 i cracked the oil pan then replaced it with an M52 from a 5series which i liked alot, it had slightly more torque then from an e36, motor started knocking after just under a month, instead of rebuilding i replace it with an s50. I bought the motor locally, and seller swears its good so i believed him. Had the motor installed then came the problems. Low compression on one of the cylinders and it burned oil. Depressed and drained from all the labor ive put into swapping these motors, i decided to put the car into storage. After a few weeks i started missing my car, so i searched around and came upon a 98 s52 from an M roadster, learning from my past series of unfortunate events i asked for compression#'s, leakdown test and did a thorough inspection of the engine, again excuse my ignorance for not doing this in the first place but hey, you live, you learn! I bought, water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket and seals, oil plan seal, oil pickup, clutch and a few other things all from BMW dealer.

Heres a few pics when i removed the s50(white valve cover) then swapped in the s52.

Theres a bracket right under cylinder 5-6 manifold side, i put a bolt thur that.

Even simpler is to use the hole cast in the block for lifting the engine. it is hiding under the glove/rag? right above the starter by transmission in that photo. use a hook or hook w/ clevis and front lift point.

It looks simple because he already went through a few engines before this. The hardest is the 1st time because of all the prep works.

I didnt use that cause engine leveler crank would hit the chain as i go to tilt the motor.
