    figuring out brake setup

I have some spare time so i want to figure out my exact, or as close to possible, brake setup for my s50. I am going to be using an ix booster so i want to figure out what i need when using this booster. I know i need a remote reservoir and i think i need a upgraded MC? can i use this remote reservoir, or would it be better to fabricate my own?(e34 540)

Is this the correct MC to use also?
    thanks

If you run a IX booster you will HAVE to do a remote resevoir.

You do not need to change the Master cylinder
(unless you want to, if so make sure the new MC has the same bolt pattern),
The IX uses a offset bolt pattern than the traditional e30 MC.

You will need to run remote lines from the master cylinder to the resevoir.

The tough part will be finding a way to adapt the fitting on the IX MC to allow a hose/line to transfer the fluid.

I am running 90 degree elbows out of the MC, soft lines to the resevoir.

Make shure you use soft lines that can handle brake fluid.

You have the right idea with your diagram!

When I got my IX booster in, it had the SAME MC I bought new for $250 from an e34 m5, they looked identical and had the same numbers on them. I am assuming the IX is 25mm, in which case I wasted $250 lol

I am unaware if there is.

Let me know if you discover a setup

I believe you can use the blue flex brake hose.

If i use different hose how hard will it be to get it to conect to the MC and the resevoir

I am talking about using the factory "remote" resevoir but instead of keeping the hard lines, replace them with brake hose.

i think i see what you mean but what i mean is if i use the factory setup, that i have pictured above, how will i be able to make those hard lines into soft hose and still be able to screw the hose into the MC and the resevoir. If i am replacing the fittings and the hose would it even be worth it to get that 540 setup? If i do get that setup will those screws screw into the right MC for the ix booster or is that 540 MC the right one? Sorry i have alot of questions that maby dont make sence, it would probably be better if i just wait till i look at this stuff first hand and figure it out. I am just trying to save money since i have lots of time to figure it out.

Adapting the resevoir to soft lines and adapting the MC to soft lines is the hardest part of this setup. You need to find a proper adapter to do both.

I pulled resevoir out of the MC
I ended up using 90 degree elbows that are the same diameter of the flange on the resevoir and stuck them in the MC with the rubber grommits that are used for the MC/Resevior.

I ran soft lines from the 90 elbows to the resevoir. They are somthing like 3/8" lines.

This setup will work, however I am not satisfied with the setup. I would prefer to have somthing hard mounted (Ie:threaded).
Guess I will have to talk to a machine shop.

There are hand held brake line benders available. check with harbor freight.

Sounds like the same thing I did on my old setup. It worked but I was not a fan of it.

do you guys think it would be possible to route the hard lines, via hand held bender, to a place i could mount the resevoir. would the e34 540 MC fit in the ix booster.
