    what would r3v pay?

what would you guys say the going rate on a FULL s52 swap costs, from a/c condenser to differential and everything in between?

a little background... my car was totaled - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=273141

i finally got the car back from the insurance company. i've decided to fix the car, but that's going to be a slow project for now. meanwhile, i want to ditch the motor, trans, etc... i'm going to go a different route after the body is fixed.

here are some pics of the engine - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...26&postcount=1

things that would go with the swap sale -
s52, rebuilt about 20k miles ago. runs rock solid. wiring harness. complete engine.
approx 95k on the zf trans, clutch slave
uuc flywheel, e34 m5 clutch. i'd say you can get another 10-20K from the clutch.
    drive shaft, 2:93 diff
    brake booster, brake mc
    a/c components
    borla catback exhaust
    m42 and mishimoto aluminum radiator
i'm sure i forgot to list some stuff...

the engine doesn't power steering, but i have the pump and will throw it in.

what would you guys say is a fair price?

Whoa, really? Sevenkay? I would say somewhere in the $4,000 to $4,750 range, in my book anyway. I mean, that whole, almost damn complete s54 setup with custom crossmember and pan went for $4,500.

I would say $8k-$9K... that S54 set up was not complete, trust me I'm swapping one into mine. An S54 is $4k engine, $1.5K 6 speed, $2.5k full custom exhaust, thats $8k and dosent touch the flywheel, clutch, cooling, DME mod, Wiring, Driveshaft, subframe, oil pan mod, 6 speed trans brace etc... So a good running complete front to back S52 swap should be around $8k

I already said it wasn't complete.

lets put it this way -
                stock s52 ~$3k
                zf trans $600

there is $3600, $100 more than your $3500. that doesn't include l/w flywheel & clutch, custom wiring, ecu tuning, drive shaft, diff, radiator, motor mounts, etc... swaps add up, FAST. don't forget this motor was rebuilt. it doesn't have 120k on it like most used s52's do. just about every swap on here has over run its budget by thousands.

show me the average person that can put together a full, clean, reliable swap for $3500.

My guess may be a bit low, Farbin's is probably closer to correct.

I had a long response typed out, but what's the point? Try to get as much as you can for it. People are paying out the nose for E30 related parts nowadays.

Regardless, used parts are used. You don't simply add up receipts, then round up to the nearest hundred to get a price.

I took where you were headed on a full retail price for unused parts, then put a 50% depreciation on it because it was used for almost what any shop would provide for a full warranty, then cut it by half.

We all understand you poured lots of money from out of your wallet into that engine bay, but you have got to understand there is a big hole in the bottom where half the value leaks out onto the asphalt below.

Nobody is taking that away from you, we are simply telling you what the realistic market would put value on it.

I say, make your $$$ninekay$$$ FS ad, and sit on it for 11 months, or price it realistically, and move it in 30 days.

It's your call, Danny and I already both own s52's, so you are just making our property more valuable.

Though it's easier to unload it as a complete package, you will recover the most money if you sell each component separately.

5.5k at best, im sure its all nice but its a s52 setup for a e30. your captured audience can piece it together on the cheap.

no where did i say i wanted $$$ninekay$$$, nor did i add up receipts. danny said $3500. i simply showed it was worth more in my opinion.

Understood, I was more debating the 89alpinem3 fella whom said $8,000-9,000.

I still solidly stand by my estimation of $4,000-4,750.

By the way someone else said $7k or more as well.... That being said also remember bud that dudes are just trying to throw up low prices maybe hoping you sell it cheap and they can pick it up. As the OP stated the engine as been rebuilt so whats that worth alone? Now I have no say on what he sells it for just think its dumb to advise a guy sell his stuff lower then it really could be worth. Now in the end it his is call and something is worth what another person is willing to pay for it, so there you go....
