    Clutch Problems - Wont disengage, pedal wont go to floor

    s52, G260, all M20 stuff. Pilot bearing, throwout bearing, flywheel and G260.

    Bled my new slave because my old slave cylinder exploded, went to get in the car and check the pedal feel and make sure it was bled correctly, and the pedal only goes halfway down. It feels like the brake pedal actually, moves a little then gets super stiff halfway down and wont go any further.

    Looking for ideas before I have to rip everything back out and separate the trans to see if I see anything throwout bearing/clutch fork related.

    My ideas were:

    Slave cylinder rod is crooked and not sitting in the clutch fork right?

    Im 99% sure the throwout bearing is not backwards.

    Looking for opinions.

    I think you may need a 323 euro throwoutbearing for the s52 swap to engage properly, are you able to drive the car?

      Nope can't drive it. I read the euro 323 is the same part number as the us 325?

        That screams that the throwout bearing is on backwards.

        If the rod wasnt lining up properly it would most likely slide past the pivot fork and the pedal would go to the floor.

        My money is TO bearing being on backwards.

          A standard g260 bearing will work just fine.

            either the clutch disc is in backwards (you'd notice that when you put the pressure plate on) or like other said above, the throwout bearing is in wrong. I'm going to say that its 90 degrees off, so not sitting in the clutch fork properly.

              Yeah motor is coming back out next weekend. Sucks but ill update what it was.

                  Pedal will go all the way to the floor with the bleeder screw open on the slave so I don't think anything is binding.

                    FYI on the disc the longer stub goes towards the engine.

                      You don't have a self adjusting clutch do you?

                      Just asking because I made the mistake of removing the retaining clip on an e46 clutch before installing on the flywheel, and had the same exact symptoms.

                      Its a shot in the dark as I don't even know if the e36 had a SAC.

                        Just to add, they aren't. The Euro 323 is longer. This longer throw out bearing makes up the difference in flywheel sizes when you use an m20 set up in a G250.

                        Euro 323: 21-51-1-204-525-M38
                        US 325: 21-51-7-521-471-M38

                          You said the euro throwout bearing makes up the difference in g250, I'm using a g260 and have read that plenty of people have just used an oem m20 throwout. But, if someone can prove that I need the euro one, ill do that. Not trying to have to do this a second time.

                            If you are using a G260, with the M20 flywheel & PP, you should be using all M20 accessories.

                            Take it back out and make sure the Clutch fork, throwout bearing, retaining spring clip, and dowel thing are all properly installed.

                              Everything in the car is M20. Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and slave. G260 transmission. Its one of two things, either I installed the clutch disk backwards or the throwout bearing is 90 degrees off.

                              You'd think if I could swap engines I could install clutch components :bang head:

                              Oh well people make mistakes. I might pull it back out this weekend. Also thinking about "attempting" to just drop the trans, but I can already tell ill just scream and yell at getting to the top bolts.
