Very cool I did almost the same thing but I swapped the internal to S50 Crank Rods and High comp pistons. Started it up last week and it seems to be working great!
I had to swap over the harmonic balancer due to where the CPS pickup (missing teeth) are located in comparison to the M50NV one.

Nice! Take a photo and post it for reference

I do have another cam sensor if that filed down one doesn't work out.
Good info keep us posted and post some photos so i will compare with what i have

I'm at the stage of putting everything back together after I converted an NV head to vanos. The cam sensor isn't sitting flush with the head, even using the thinner NV oring. 92 325i head on 95 525i block and chassis.

One post in this thread says to get rid of the step on the sensor and one says it fits when tightened down-both using the thinner oring. Do I get rid of the edge or just tighten it up?
    TIA

Thanks guys. I'm going to start picking up parts tomorrow for a 413 red label and vanos conversion.

see my earlier post - you will need S50 cams or M50 cams for vanos - Yes! I used the cams; lifters and trays

go for s50 cams while you are there (if the budgets allows)

    vanos maf sensor
    knock sensors
filter housing (as is different because of the vanos line port)

    that should complete the list.

I'm considering adding Vanos to my M50NV and have a few questions for any of you that have completed this swap.

    I think I would need:
    Vanos wiring harness
    413 DME
    Vanos unit
    Vanos valve cover
    Vanos CPS
    Vanos vibration dampener

What about cams and lifters? Would I just need an M50tu intake cam or would I need both?
