D day is here, but having problems- Doesnt Crank!

    Euro S50B30 out of a 1994 M3.

Red label DME with 075 last three digits.

I got the EWS delete chip as well.

When i put ignition ON i hear two clicks at the relays. There is NO fuel pump priming and NO cranking at all.

What to look out for please help??

i keep reading about cutting certain wire for EWS delete but not sure on that part?

this is how i connected the power etc

the TWO wires that go to the E36 fuse box i didnt connect to anything as apparently E30 fuse box gets its own power. is that correct?

To physically turn the engine over--to engage the starter, you only need to have the ignition wire and main battery cable hooked up to the starter, and the engine itself grounded to the chassis.

The fact the fuel pump is not priming is likely because your DME is not getting power.

I believe you have not hooked up a ground somewhere.

The E30 fusebox gets power from the two wires you hooked up to the main battery terminal.

The E36 fusebox is powered from a branch off the starter cable. I believe it is a single ring terminal.

What side of the car are the two unconnected wires on? Can you take a picture of where the wires are exiting from?

the two cables are coming off just next to the relays. red is a bit bigger than black.

the grounds i have connected are
      1- ecu
2- black cable coming next to the diagnostic plug (where the S14 was grounded)
3- the one next to the engine mount
4- one coming from just behind the cylinder head

also not sure why but my brake lights are on constantly.

My recollection is that there is only one power wire coming off the starter cable in an E36. I am not certain if there is a difference on the Euro engines.

Can you identify the actual color of the wire that is jacketed with black heat shrink insulation? You can trim the insulation back a few mm and identify the color. If it is red, it must be another power wire. If it is brown, it must be a ground wire.

Also, if the battery is almost dead, then it will not allow the engine to crank.

its red underneath the heat insulation but there is no voltage on it, and its not ground either. we tested it and its not ground and no voltage to it.

so must be getting power from the red one.

Car is officially started. seems that the two wires that are meant for the fuse box and that dont need to be plugged anywhere, acutally have to be wired together.

Car is on, but sounds like its not running on all cylinders.

i know that the O2 plugs can not be mixed between the two as they are different, but what if they were mixed between bungs on cats? (i had exhaust done and guy had to instal new cats so maybe he mixed them up..). if not that, what else could make it run a bit rough (will be checking coil packs tomorrow also)

                Congratulations!

My guess is, if the car hasn't been run in a while, the injectors are a bit gummed up. I would remove them and clean them.

Anther thing that causes rough running is vacuum leaks.

car ran in previous engine about 2 months ago...sounded fine. ill have a look at the vacuum leaks, coils and O2 sensors tomorrow. hopefully its an easy fix. thanks man!
