    Exhaust advantages

I'm going to cheap out on the exhaust to start with and put on a stock E36 M3 exhaust. I already have the '95 m3 midpipe with cats and O2 sensor that I plan on using, but I'm not sure what my plan is for the muffler yet. I think I'd like to stick with stock e36 m3 muffler for now because the price is right, but not sure which one to use. Is there a difference between stock OBDI vs OBDII mufflers? Advantages to one over the other? I see they have different part numbers, but that's really all I know.

I've spent a lot of money on others aspects of doing my project right the first time, gotta save somewhere, a budget's a budget right? Anyway after one summer of driving I'll probably upgrade the exhaust, but for now I need something.

The car is getting an S50 motor with minor upgrades.

Only problem I see with using a e36 m3 muffler (which I was also planning) is the angle of the tips out of the muffler. I would think you'd have to cut the tips off and mount the muffler then weld the tips back on.

And I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure that the OB1 and OB2 mufflers have the same dimensions, even though part #'s are different.

I have used a E36 M3 rear section on my car without having to cut and weld.
It is a heavy and large muffler but it sits well and looks pretty good.
Very strange hearing a E30 with E36 exhaust tones

As for flow characteristics Im not shure. Larger motor, more exhuast? Free flowing to expell more exhaust gasses? just a guess.

Do you have a rear skirt that has a tip cut out? Or does the exhaust just hang below the bumper?

Rear skirt is cut slightly to allow room for both tips
