Next, how do you get this nut tightened? I tried various tools (there is zero room thanks to the reinforced plate) until I simply wedged a thick scredriver to keep the nut from sipnning. That only got the nut onto the mount half way. So I wanted to get the mount back out but it was impossible to reverse twist the nut off. The whole bottom plate/stud assembly started spinning seperately from the polyurethane part so i had no way to get the nut back off.

I found a picture from another guy's issue which is the same, so obviously the welded bracket + engine swap is a problem more common than just in my garage:

What mounts do people use with a reeinforced subframe? And how do you guys tighten the nut in that tiny little space?

    Hey thats my finger!!
yeah man I had to grind out the hole in the reinforcement plate to get a socket on there. I called Revshift and they said yes use the slotted holes. I couldnt see how anyone could be using the stock holes anyway.. you would have to force the mount into place and it would end up sitting in a tweaked postion.

      Exactly, theyd sit crooked,...badly.

I dont understand why these companies dont put a note on their product that says "warning not compatible with subframe reinforcements". Because a LOT of people reinforce the subframe for swaps...

You should have bought the AKG mounts.

I too have my front subframe reinforced, and my motor mounts fit in the round hole, giving me easy access to the nut.

This is the problem with using inappropriate mounts.

Spend real money and get something that was properly engineered.

This is why the AKG swap mounts are worth every penny. They mount like factory, stud through the round hole, locating tab in the slot. Angle correction for the e36 arms is built into the mount.

I wouldn't run anything else. I have a re-enforced subframe and no issues.

They fit like shit even in the "correct" position. Throw out and buy akgs.
