Quick Question: External Dimensions/Height of S5X/M5X

I've had a heck of a time trying to find this here, google, e30tech and in a number of different languages. It seems "dimensions" and "height" refer to many other things...

Anyway I'm going to be picking up a S50 soon and was going to be taking my Toaureg to load it in the back. I managed to squeeze a M20 from pan to intake manifold in there with roughly 2" of spare room.

So question is, does anyone know how "tall" a S50 is? From bottom of the pan to highest point of the motor (intake manifold probably?). I doubt it is much taller than a M20 but I do know the M5X/S5X's sit a bit lower with the E34 pan. Worst case I could remove the intake manifold and/or oil pan.

    Thanks!

That is definitely an option just need to get creative with lifting the engine up without destroying anything in the process. The M20 I put in the back was a relative breeze picking it up vertically from the hoist points and "backing it in" to the Touareg with the boom near the tailgate.

the s50 will be about an inch or two taller. when in the car the intake manifold sits a bit lower than the m20 but the s50 oil pan is a couple inches lower than the one on the m20 so overall taller. turning it on the side is your best option.

Got it thought it might be something like that.

So I'm guessing exhaust manifold side down would be best (manifolds are still attached).

yeah. that's how mine traveled as well. there are 24 studs holding them so they can take the weight.
