Swaping in the new, tossing out the old

Yoo I currently have a 1987 325e 5 speed manaul and after one of my main coolant pipes busted in the middle of the street leaving my car smoking. I started to think my engine is on its way out with 270k+ miles on it, I started to research engine swaps and what would be the easiest one. Then I found the M50 and S50 and they seem to be all the same fittings if i'm not mistaken just need to add some parts. So I wanted to see if anyone else has done this swap and had success and budget wise what I would be looking at to hopefully do it myself. thanks guys.
