So, I have an aluminum flywheel that has no dowel pins but one was ground smooth.
I plan on removing the one that is flush with the surface, but getting new pins does not seem to be an option. I can make them but I am not sure if my tolerances would be tight enough for my liking.
I will be running a SPEC stage 2+ clutch and PP on the flywheel and should be putting 400hp to the wheels and I have found conflicting information about if the pins are needed or not.
From what I gather they are mainly for alignment, so I could make some that fit "well" to line everything up and bolt it down but remove them after or try to glue them in if they are too loose.
I found that it is a common issue for the e46's to throw them out of the flywheel so they must not do too much...
