    Flywheel Dowel Pins

So, I have an aluminum flywheel that has no dowel pins but one was ground smooth.
I plan on removing the one that is flush with the surface, but getting new pins does not seem to be an option. I can make them but I am not sure if my tolerances would be tight enough for my liking.
I will be running a SPEC stage 2+ clutch and PP on the flywheel and should be putting 400hp to the wheels and I have found conflicting information about if the pins are needed or not.
From what I gather they are mainly for alignment, so I could make some that fit "well" to line everything up and bolt it down but remove them after or try to glue them in if they are too loose.
I found that it is a common issue for the e46's to throw them out of the flywheel so they must not do too much...

I ended up breaking two of my pins. I took it to the machine shop and they removed all the pins and tapped the holes, then used new hex bolts in the old pin holes and balanced the whole assembly. All for $45. Pins are for strength and alignment is what they told me.
