I'm trying to figure out why my '92 M50NV engine had a major intake backfire. See http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=291260 for the whole story.
I think my fuel injectors may be leaking into the intake. I've got a fuel pressure gauge plumbed in before the fuel rail, and when I shut off the engine, the pressure drops pretty quickly. So I'm looking at rebuilding or replacing the injectors, and today I discovered the engine is running red top 0 280 150 778 injectors. All the research I have done tells me it should have green top 0 280 150 415 injectors, and that the red tops have a higher flow rating and are from a V8 engine.
I have no idea if the injectors are original, but the engine has been in 3 other cars previous to mine so it wouldn't surprise me if they have been changed out in the past. The engine has always run rich (can smell it in the exhaust, and the plugs look black), so I'm thinking I should go back to the stock green tops since I'm running a stock DME (maybe a chip later), MAF, and everything else. Opinions?
