    Muffler Shop FAIL

So I took my 87 24v Vert into Midas for them to weld up the exhaust and they told me they couldn't because there is not enough clearance between the flange on the header and the crossmember/swaybar. I know some of you guys have done a 24v swap on a vert so maybe it was just that the Midas guys didn't want to mess with it. I agree the clearance is small but I assume something can be done.

I am using the stock cast headers on my M50TU and I was going to use my stock e30 exhaust center section/ catback. My buddy with a swapped sedan sent me pics and all they did to his center section was add flexpipe to one of the pipes that go to the header. Is there a big difference between the verts and the sedans Crossmember/swaybar?

If someone has any advice please help.
I think I will try to hitup a mom and pop muffler ship vs midas and may have better luck.

Big chain shops like that will never touch anything not stock or sketchy. Best bet is the local small shop.

I agree but these guys are kinda Ghetto Midas and they were all about it until they saw the clearance. I just hope someone will tackle this because I don't want to drive all around the area on just headers to try to find someone to get this done.

Or any other chain shop. Custom-built exhausts need to be done by a shop where that's all they do. The shop that did mine does custom race fab and exhausts, and mine came out beautiful.

I had ebay shorty headers in my swap, the front headers flange did get rediculously close to the swaybar/subframe, so we had to do a pretty quick 90 off the adjoining flange.
Took a lot of cutting and fitting but we managed to get it back onto stock e30 exhaust, we did have to relocate the bung for the o2 sensor. Its not pretty, but it sounds beautiful :D
