Can the P/S pump be run without fluid?

Or it will it lock up? I need to get my '91 aligned and it currently has the p/s pump installed without any lines attached. Does the pulley spin on sealed bearings or does it use the p/s fluid to lubricate the whole pump?

It will burn it up, remove the belt to the pump. I'm not sure about an m20 but on an m42 there is a belt just for the p/s pump.

Sorry, it has an M50 in it so it's on the serpentine belt. I'll have to pick up another p/s delete belt and remove the pump.

It will turn into an idler real quick, then once the fluid dries up from heat, it will fall apart.

Lol, ok. I'd be fine with it functioning as an idler, but falling apart or seizing is a no go.

already done :) I was just asking because I'm in a time crunch right now and it's a short drive to the alignment shop.
