Lately my m50 has been almost cutting out while driving, my air to fuel ratio shows no numbers when it happens and the gas pedal is unresponsive. it just goes away after a few seconds, but lately its been getting worse. Any ideas on what it could be? I should mention its in a 1991 318is with s50 cams and the W.A.R chip.

My car did this for a while last summer, m50 vanos with stock DME/chip. I never did pinpoint what was going on to cause it as it happened so sparratically but messing with fixing exhaust leaks and replacing an oxygen sensor seems to have made it not happen any more. For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.

Does it cut or does everything shutoff? My wagon used to turn itself off randomly for a couple seconds when driving because of a bad positive connection on the battery terminal.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

its probably a fuel issue. I had the same thing recently and am in the process of getting a walbro fitted..
Does your pump sound weird???? Mine was making a very loud pshspshphspsppshsphpshsphpshp noise, almost like it wasnt sending constant fuel.Comment

Bump, this is getting worse, and getting very annoying. Say i try to go 7k rpms in first, from 3.5k to 6k and very bumpy and slow. When i come to a stop and push the clutch in, the idle will dip below 1k then back up and repeat at smaller intervals till it steadys out. Any ideas? My air to fuel ratio gauge also displays no info while this happens, which makes me want to say its the o2 sensor, I have a Borla exhaust from the headers back, and I see 2 things plugged into the side, are they o2 sensors? and how can I tell if they are bad?Comment
