s52 vs m52 for track car

Im building my e30 into a dedicated track car and needed some help as far as which engine to choose. I realize there are probably a million threads like this. Ive read through most of them but I havent really been able to come to anything conclusive.

I currently have an opportunity to pick up an m52 from a 1997 328 or an s52 from a 1999 m3. Im also getting a holset hc1 turbo really cheap from a friend. Which engine would be the best option with this turbo?
Ive read that the m52 engine is better at handling boost, although Ive seen quite a few turbo s52.

Or would my best option be to save a little money with the m52 and get an s52 crank?
    Thanks for the input!

I'm sure the m52 will have tons of power with the turbo And if it grenades it is cheaper to buy & replace

Go with the m52. Use ARP headstuds and MLS and youl be set. The stock internals can handle 400hp all day.
