Hey guys im new to this forum and just signed up today actually. lol. I recently purchased a 1989 325i 4 door with a M50TUB25 swap. So far fixing the little issues here and there have been pretty much straight forward but i have come to a problem i cant figure out with my temp gauge. I replaced the thermostat and housing since the plastic one was cracked. New gasket for the housing ect.. So now the car is better about getting warmer but the needle in the temp gauge is only moving up to the first line after the blue. No heat coming from defrosters and everything is new. Could it be the coolant temp sensor? Thats one thing i never replaced yet and im sure the part is fairly cheap. Thanks in advanced.

I just did a bit of reading into the issue and it seems to be a common thing for these swaps. Im gonna replace with a M20 coolant temp sensor and see what happens. Also i have been having some small leaks from the heater core connection i made. Opening the intake today to get it fixed but regardless of a small leak shouldnt i still have heat? I think i have the hoses connected to the wrong port for the heater core or i have a bad heater valve.Last edited by maclogos; 06-28-2013, 01:54 PM.

Yeah i just swapped those and still no heat. I ordered the new sensor but they sent me the wrong one. Still waiting on a new one. Im gonna try to unplug the heater valve to see if it opens. If not then i need to gut it so its flowing all the time. I have a feeling the valve has failed in some manner.
