E30 S50 Swap Oil pan question.

Ok, so I'm not a total noob, I know you need E34 oil pan which I just got about an hour ago. My question is; How much lower does an S50 with an E34 oil pan sit compared to stock M20? Because right now my car is really fricken low, and my pan hits at least 3 times I go anywhere. Please someone tell me there is a way that isn't too redneck to keep the S50 with E34 oil pan up higher.

Add a few spacers to your engine mounts? Or raise your car up? Or get a skid plate? Or all three.

I don't want to rais the car up, looks good the way it is. Spacers; maybe. What I am really curious about is how high it'll sit aftert the swap. Lower, or higher than stock.

Raising your engine up effects how high your center of gravity is by a little. Raising the whole car will effect it more but regardless of looks. I would never drive a 24v swap without a skid plate. Oil pan sits way too far below the front subframe.

Ok, question answered: Oil pan sits lower than stock after swap. Thank you!

It sits about the same as an E30 M42 pan, give or take a little.

I'd be wary of spacing the engine up too far, you don't want to fuck with your driveshaft angles. I think someone on here had a swap pan custom welded, maybe you could look into that.

                        That's a bit overkill for a US S50 in a street car.

OP to answer your question, it hangs pretty low but on my M50 car with H&R race and 15mm drop hats I never broke an oil pan, even when driving on 14" wheels with undersized tires in the winter. The roads where I live are not good at all and I drove the car through New England/NH/NY/NJ area and the streets there are FUCKED, yet I made it through OK. Just get a skid plate and drive smart, you won't have to worry much about broken pans.

Just shim the mounts. The 24v pans hang lower. My pans even with the subframe and i have no driveshaft issues, no vibration etc. Probably will prematurely wear the guibo but I'm not worried about it.

Did you shim the transmission mounts too ?
