No crank issue

I'm starting to get pretty frustrated. Periodically, the 330is will refuse to crank. After enough tries, it has always started, although last night I was starting to get pretty worried. Especially after it did it twice in a row, which has never happened before.

At this point, I've replaced the ignition switch (obvious first step) and I've replaced the starter (when it won't crank, I hear a single very quiet click - it seemed likely that the starter was having an issue and I had the transmission out). The starter is genuine BMW, so I'd be inclined to assume that it's good.

Thoughts?

Looks like the next step is to check for voltage drop at the starter.

Seems like running another ground wire and possibly refreshing the supply cable is the next step.

Ran a second supply wire and directly grounded the starter (for a total of three ground wires attached to the engine, although one of them is the original E30 ground and pretty ratty). Resistance to the starter was measurably reduced (although it wasn't much to begin with).
