That sounds good. Who did your tune?

Tune wouldn't throw a vanos code. I usually see those when the solenoid is jammed up and the ECU is not seeing the advancement in timing it wants.

Had this issue on my mother's car a year ago, solenoid ohms out fine but is not working properly.

Also make sure you've got the solenoid plugged into the right connector.

TRM flashed my 2 DMEs. 1 DME has a tps code that wont clear, the other has a Vanos code that wont clear. When i say it wont clear, i mean that i can clear the code, and without starting the car, i scan for codes, and they come right up as pending.

hook up a generic OBD2 scanner and read the live data, watch for % of throttle. Then operate the throttle, and see what kind of changes does it show

The throttle% goes from 15-100. I am really starting to doubt there are any mechanical or wiring issues.

I have 1 DME that gives a TPS code, and no Vanos code, and i have another DME that has a vanos code and no TPS code.
Both were reflashed to remove emissions codes, and a given a tune for m50 manifold Etc.

Ironically i pulled my megasuirted turbo'd M20 because i though the s52 would be more reliable for track days.

If the diagnostic scanner shows a gradual 5% to 100% throttle sensor reading than TPS is fine and all the wiring to it are fine. S52 with MS41.2 is very reliable system. Problem you got is either you got some wire harness issue or the DMEs are both defected or they got improper flash tunes.
Reason why lot of people buy my ECU service is because I actually have a swapped car for testing, so I test the ecu and drive on it to see if any codes will pop up.

Turned out that the little screw on the throttle body that sets the rest point for the throttle linkage had worked its way loose and crept forward so the rest point allowed the throttle to barely stay open just a tad.

We backed the screw out a little until it was at the correct rest point and used red loctite to keep it in place.
Related - how did you find the correct rest point?

Would you be willing to check out my DME? let me know what you charge.

Dig around on Bimmerforums, there are guys that will do it for less. Lots of information is becoming available on how to flash these so there are tons of people now offering the service for less.
