I'll tell you that I personally ran these cams with an otherwise stock head/engine in my old S50 E30. That being said the final decision is up to you. I took a look at the Bimmerworld site and I didn't see it recommend any additional mods to accompany the Sunbelt Stage 2 cams. If you want to play it safe give them a call and see what they say...

Don't think I've ever taken any.

              Hi Matt,

I sent you a PM a few months ago, but I never followed up as I wanted to do some research on regrinds.

If the cams are not welded up, I am guessing some material is removed from the base circle to get the cams to those aggressive specs. Is there a shim needed to make up the difference of material removed?

You mention they don't need any additional items valvetrain-wise. Did you ever dyno your S50 before and after?

What is turnaround time for these? Thanks!

I don't have enough knowledge on the 24v engine/head builds to answer your questions 100%. You're right though some of the base circle is removed which is why we need to start with the S50/S52 cams to get the specs we want and not the M50/M52. I'm not going to say they don't NEED any additional upgrades to be run but I am saying I have personally done it (along with other locals I know) without an issue.

I don't have dyno numbers on them unfortunately. Once we have your core cams here it will take up to a week to have them reground and then will be shipped back to you via UPS.

Since my car is a track/weekend beater, I'll wait for dyno proof of actual gains and see how the cams hold up to a few thousand miles of abuse before my purchase. Not knocking your work, just skeptical regarding overall head modifications required to run a more aggressive cam.

Have you seen the VAC 276/270 cams, very tempting.

I need an economical choice. I'm not going to spend 900$ on a set of cams. Can't justify power gains. IMO

If considering cams for s52; consider a more powerful complete package solution; s54b32.

Even those with endless funds to throw at a s52 enjoy a s54 more.

Stock s52 cams are just fine; the engine needs more than just a set of cams to make significantly more power.
