You'll need to stage 2++ if getting faster is desired; a dinan stage 1 s52 m3 car laps Laguna Seca at similar pace as stock m3.

    2 words: heat soak.

    Real power is NA

Same experience with 350z supercharged vs stock. It puts down about 130rwhp more than NA but the lap time = SAME after a few laps of heat soak.
    OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

    Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine

This!! A turbo'd M50/S52 will make more power, more reliably, and more efficiently than a strung out NA motor. And the Sunbelt cams - while cool, do NOT rev these motors higher than ~7200 unless you want to shake things apart and break stuff. Problem with the Sunbelts, is thats where they make power, is high high revs. YMMV.

Nobody cares about stupid, torqueless centrifugal stupidchargers. Twinscrew, or turbo. Torque wins races (well, area under the curve, I suppose) and centri blowers have very little.

To OP - unfortunately, there aren't many options off the shelf for our cars. Shricks are the generic, but proven method. VERY expensive though. VAC makes some that are even more expensive. I'm not a fan of the Sunbelts. Lot sof power yes, but at extremely peaky high rpm's, and I've seen too many engine failures because of those high RPM's. Harmonics ftl. Your best bet is to talk to the trusted shops & get their opinions. Paging 328ijunkie.....

S54b32 na all motor is faster on many things than ESS twin screw.

Local friend has e46 330zhp ESS. I had e36 s53b32 swapped, lots of friends with STi's for background noise and reference.

Try pulling repeatedly from 140-170mph; you will find that RPM's are quite useful on the wangan

Interesting theory, since I know of turbo'd E36's that have set FTD at trackdays before, running full sessions the whole weekend.

Don't get me wrong, FI cars are fast but with reliability issues especially here is Socal during the peak of summer. We've run most of the Redline events this year here in Socal and you can see how much FI cars blow up their motor even at practice sessions. I would say that FI cars are superior for Time attacks (only with really good drivers) but N/A will dominate wheel to wheel sprint races and enduros. We've won Redline and GTA events with stock s54 and s52, don't get me wrong. It's all about preference, and I prefer to build cars that are reliable for my customers. I'm just not a big fan of turbo and SC, that's just me :).

Agreed. Had exclusively turbocharged weapons for a decade and the stress to maintain them is immense. Had to put out an oil fire on top of turbo mid Tarmac rally drive once........no such fear with NA.

The average skilled driver has enough trouble controlling a high power NA; turbo is another can of worms to control.
