where are u up to with the conversion?? got to the harness yet??? i was told to use a LHD harness as it would reach our computer ...drivers side...cost nothing here as no one has a use for them...

Oh nice one! Which write up do you mean?

My conversion turned into a mortgage :( I have pretty much everything I need for the swap...bar the time and cash to actually do it. which sucks. I'm hoping when I finish my PhD I can get back into it. I should try and pop the M20 so I'm forced into doing it :D

I have a harness, but will end up customising it somewhat for the aftermarket injection.

Show them it's wrong by a significant margin, and I think they'll burn you a new chip. If not, they say it's another 50 bucks to get a chip for new mods.

I'll probably be dynoing out here before it gets hot, I won't be in SD for a while.

Is there a limit to how long after you bought the original chip that AA will stop burning new chips for you? I'm on my second one, but I'll want a third one after the dyno results (I bought the chip in July...too late?).

I ran a S50 chip for a while, and was blowing 11:1 AFs on the dyno (and got horrible mileage). I then picked up a 'custom' AA chip, which was running pretty lean (14.5-15:1) on the dyno and somewhat of a disappointment overall. Then I sent over the dyno chart to AA and had them modify their 'M52 race' chip (BS...) to a more acceptable AF ratio, and I'm still waiting to dyno the new chip.

The AA custom chip is not a perfect solution, but at least they were quick to reburn me a new chip.

Weird thing was, the S50 ERT chip felt the fastest out of a stock S50 chip, AA 2.8L cam chip, and S50 ERT, but it didn't dyno the best. The ERT chip was even faster in some 'timed runs' around Mt. Solidad (e30sd knows....) but didn't seem to like the dyno.

    Edit:

Jeremy: I'm trying to set up some dyno runs w/ Jason. Interested? I want to see if the 3.5" HFM helps. I'm currently loosing quite a bit of power up top because of some sort of intake restriction...

21.5 injectors. Active Autowerks chip (garbage). You can use a stock S50 chip, but it'll run rich. I plan on getting a new chip after a few dyno runs.

since this relates to the thread...

what chip are you guys running w/ 2.8 obd1's? and did you did you use the injectors from the 2.8 or swap them from a 2.5?

i suppose the ultimate answer is to get the car dyno'd 'n custom chip, but curious what you guys have done, and if some off the shelf chip is suitable.

Hmmm...does look an odd fitting to not be using the OEM part on. What did you do...fat hose and a clamp (sounds kinda ghetto :D)?
