Hey guys. Just finishing up an M50 swap, and i'm looking for a fan setup. I have an E36 mishimoto radiator, and i'm wondering if anybody has experience with putting a fan in-between the engine block and radiator. Has anybody found a fan that fits? And if you do have one that fits, could you give me a part number? I know SPAL makes one that is supposed to fit. Thank you!

I am also very interested in this. I also have a M50 and going to be replacing the rad soon with a mishimoto rad. Currently i have stock rad with a audi fan but it sucks badly. If you dont have AC wouldnt it be easier to just install a electric pusher fan instead of a puller fan setup? -
I used 2 of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-X-UNIVERSA...-/190605560351 I got them from DNA motoring for about $40 along with a CX Racing e36 Aluminum Radiator http://www.ebay.com/itm/CXRacing-Alu...7beafa&vxp=mtr it just fits but it works well through 2 summers nowComment

low profile 16" spal might fit. It would be very close though. Any reason why you want it between the block and rad? With the mishimoto radiator and front mounted fan these things stay very cool. I even have A/C condensor and front mount fan and it never overheats or even gets to the half-way point.Comment

The low profile Spal 16" puller is a tight fit with my CX Racing. We took a few mm off my WP pulley shaft during the swap, and I ended up moving the fan to a more off-center position soon after because it was still making slight contact when driving the car hard.
On his swapped car, bimmerteck has a Spal pusher in front of his Mishimoto and it seems to work fine.Comment

Pusher would certainly be easier, but if you run A/C and the original A/C fan like i do a puller works great. I run an 88c thermostat and it runs 188 to 192f consistantly during the SC summers imho 80c is just a bit too low for for these motors. 92c is the stock temp thermostat. With a puller things are real tight for working on the motor, you need to pull the rad to change the thermostat.Comment

Perfect guys. Thanks for the help. Went with the 16" SPAL fan. And it is a very close fit. If anybody wants the part number, I can post it.
Thanks again.Comment
