you'll need to chip it to run the m50 properly. The stock chip will be for an s50

Correct. It might start and run, but won't run properly. TRM might be able to make a chip to run the m50 on the 506 dme if they don't stock one already

I say just get an s50 to run with that 506 :) He already has the pan, harness, and dme to swap it right over

There is absolutely no difference between a 506 DME and a 413 red label, other than the chip installed in it.

Running the stock 506 chip on an M50 is just silly. If he has a bad DME and wants to swap chips, that will work fine, though.

I will check when I get home but I should have an m50b25 chip that I pulled out of a 413 red label

so if he just plugs the 506 the car will run and it wont cause any problems ?

He's saying it will work if you have the correct chip
