    s50 intake manifold on s50

    I meant s52 on s50 lol

    I have a couple questions about this.

    First off, I was told that the s52 manifold will clear the stock brake booster. Is this true?

    Second, how hard is it to change it over to obd1 (what will need taking off etc) and after that will it pass CA bar?

    Third, is there a difference between the s52/m52 manifold? Will it give a boost over the s50/m50 manifold?

    I can only really answer the third question.

    There is no difference between the S52 and M52 manifold. It has smaller runners than the M50/S50 manifold that favor low end torque, but sacrifice power up top.

        It will not clear the brake booster unless you move it over. I moved my brake booster 1/2 inch and shaved the two back fins off the manifold and it fits with about 1/8" - 1/4" clearance.





        Also there has been a LOT of discussion on which manifold is better. Since I drive much more at 2500 rpm than I do at 5000 rpm, I opted for more low end torque and kept the s52 manifold. If this was a track car, then different story.

        I kept mine OBD2, so I cant help you there, other than I would recommend keeping it OBD2 if you have the harness and ECU.

              You might want to search the numerous posts about having your swap pass BAR. An S52 mani is not stk to a OBD1 S50 and may be reason for not passing. but if changed after passing..

                People play s52s off as s50s for bar, so I was mainly wondering what I'd have to do to make it look obd1

                      You have to have paperwork saying where you got the engine? I didn't know that about the bar.

                        so what brake boosters work best without drilling any holes and having to rethread/shorten? E32 7 series? Are there any where you can keep your stock M20/325is master cylinder?

                            I can only speak about my experience with the Ref. His first question was hi what are you here for. Ok next question was do you have any paperwork/documentation as to what and where your engine came from?
                            I had a handwritten bill of sale from private party with their info and drivers lice #, previous smog rec. with vehicle id on it . He ran the id # in his computer to verify yr/ model.
                            He also looked at the id # on the dme. Of course I have a 413 which isn't native to '94. He chked on computer said 413 not original to car but will accept it since part of same engine 'family'. there was another thread a while back about a member trying to BAR his S50 in Sacramento area. That ref wanted the dme specific to the 95 S50.
                            Don't let any of this hold you up from doing the swap. These are things that I experienced and may be a help to you. i had car BAR'd at Skyline.

                              I'm planning on using the iX or 735i booster and an E34M5 master cylinder - will I have problems with the master cylinder hitting the intake boot? Can someone confirm? I am going to run the 2002 remote reservoir setup
