    M50 stroker questions

I have an eta that I bought an M50TU from an e34 525 with a ZF trans to Swap in it. Im almost positive the M50 alone will be a big enough upgrade over the sluggish eta motor in it now. But of course as you read more you start to worry that the M50 will be a disappointment. The ecu does have a turner chip though. One thing I'm considering is stroking the M50. I'm getting confused on many different opinions on using my e34 m50TU and possibly trying to get more displacement out of it though. What would be my options and what kind of costs? I read that a M54 crank is all i need? Or will I be happy enough with the chipped M50 alone over the gutless eta M20 and stroking the M50 isn't all that big of a gain over a stock M50 anyway. I also considered selling the M50 for an S50 but that's a lot more $$$ than I have now. Thanks.

M50 is huge improvement over ETA M20. If you plan on driving the car every day and not into racing, stock M50 is great engine. Another cheap option is just getting M52B28. I would not waste time and money stroking M50. Just get S52 long block then from ebay, it will end up being cheaper

To do it right a stroker will cost ~$1500-$2000 in parts and proper machine work.

M50 is still a fine daily engine over an eta.

i stroked to 2.8 using m52 internals but end up using m50tu pistons to achieve a higher CR. cost down because i found a crank for $100.00 iirc.

new hone, piston rings and all bearings and it was cheap enough :)
