    Whos running a m52 swap with g240??

    Man im stumped...I have a late model 318i with a m52b28 with a g240 with a 3.73lsd in the back..

the original e30 318 drive shaft is to long and the e36 323 is also to long...

What gives!!! it looks like its 58inches flange to flange.. Thats not adding the flex joint which will make my option even smaller.

What are you guys using for drive shaft???

Try making it smaller. I believe if you loosen or take out one of the bolts you can compress the drive shaft.

      I'm running an m52 with the g240 tranny and an e36 325i 5-speed driveshaft.

Getrag 240 with M52b28 infront of it also have 3.73 lsd

also using e36 325i 5-speed drive shaft should a splined end so as to take up the difference

have g 240, m52, and a driveshaft from a 320i... these can be had for a seller in the UK for about $120 shipped anywhere in the world and are a perfect fit

I'm running an M50, G240, and an e36 318i 5-speed drive shaft. It's tight (maybe a touch too long), but it fits. This is with the e30 flex disc - the e36 flex disc is thicker.

Bump for a quick question. I re-decided on using my G240 and believe I have everything sorted except I have a question regarding the driveshaft and the stock E30 flex disc.

The G240 and E36 325 DS have the same BCD on the output flange so they'll match up. But the E36 DS has 12mm bolt holes and the 240 and E30 flex disc have 10mm bolts holes. Does this bolt up fine without the need for spacers or adapters? How are you guys running this?

And also, because I have heard conflicting answers. Will the linkage from a G250 work on G240? They look to be nearly identical in size and shape which makes me think it would work fine.
                  Thanks

I ran with my current flex disc that came off my 91 318i. Its linked up to a e36 325i drive shaft. Im not sure about the shift linkage..I had to use my stock shifter with selector rod from a e30 325i.

Here are the shift linkage parts numbers, BMW used these on some european models but they work and fit perfect. 25111220759 & 25111220835, lots of places carry them but I got mine a couple years back from getbmwparts.com

Did you shim the bolts holding the driveshaft to the guibo? That was my question. The G240 uses 10mm bolts and the E36 DS has holes for 12mm.

I know, I've got those numbers saved and will order if I need to. However it looks like the G250 will work just fine or with minimal modification. I'll find out this weekend.

The 250 will work fine but keep in mind the vast difference in gear ratios if you keep the 4.10 from your 318is you will be at about 4000 rpm @ 70mph, with the 240 you would be about 3300rpm same speed. the 250 should be pretty quick around town.

I apologize, I was referring to the G250 linkage.
