Swapped many years ago without a single regret.

The car is great without any problems, has never left me stranded and puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

25,000 miles on my s52 swap done a year and a half ago and no problems yet, I would drive it anywhere.

Only issue with my swap has been the janky power steering reservoir hose. Did 1200 miles the week my swap was finished. Dont skimp on parts and do it right. It will be Bullitt proof*

What hoses did you use? I actually pulled E36 lines off an M50 E36 at the U-Pull-It, they worked great!

Mine runs like a dream. OBD2 S52. Only issue I have is the exhaust headers touch the subframe a little and cause a vibration at times. Nothing much.

Cough it up up front and itll be far more reliable than any M20.
~18K of Track/Drift/Towing/Daily etc on my OBD2 M52 swap i did in house on an Extremely tight budget.

only thing thats given me any shit has been the original ~140K mile G260 clutch that the 7500 rev limiter blew up.

the original E36 hose. I should have replaced it when the motor was out. It looked to be in good shape.

I have this same issue. I was going to mill a few mils off the subframe to see if I can't get rid of it.

Also my exhaust has a metallic sound around 3k to 4k. Drives me bonkers, but these aren't reliability issues so I didn't mention them.

110% reliability. Best part of doing the swap was getting very familiar with the m50. Do ALL the seals, bushings, hoses and wear items. Be comprehensive. You will end up with a super reliable troublefree engine, but better yet you will get to know the condition of everything on, in, and around your motor. The confidence you get from knowing the state of affairs under hood because you did it all yourself is the best car feeling you will ever have. No one else will ever put the time and care into the little details the way you will on your own swap. The pride you put in will reveal itself in a reliability you could never buy.
In that way, guys who pay to have their swap done are robbing themselves of the best part of the swapped experience.
Of course if you are an undependable, lazy cheap slob with no self-worth, you will probably create a car with similar attributes mechanically.
Do it right, ub happy happy.

My car was done professionally, I've done several track days, driven a few thousand miles, and have only had issues with the VANOS, but should have it resolved. The car runs great, has AC, and once I get the front camber dialed in should drive like a dream. Also, I've got an M52 with a ZF transmission and a factory 2.93 LSD. I'm going to change the LSD for a 3.25 Torsen this winter. The long legs of the 2.93 are nice, but I really need more oomph in 3rd for the track here in Portland. If I had it do over again, I would've done the Dr. VANOS kit first and bit the bullet on a 3.25 Torsen.

My swap was rigged together and has been dead-nuts reliable anyway. Car has never failed to start, even when it was running on 4 cylinders due to a severely warped head.

Same here. Done with no budget, and no time to do things properly. Never has it not started or died on me. It ran funny for a while until I found a used o2 sensor on the ground at my buddies place and hrew that in

Also I ripped the hose from the intake elbow to the manifold and it wouldn't idle right but I put some epoxy all over it and it's been fine since.

The engine will be coming out over the winter and I will properly put new gaskets, seals and hoses in/on it.
