I voted so I guess I should comment. I had kinks initially but now all is well. It follows the principle that you get out what you put in, both time and money -wise. I definitely consider it to be worth the effort, notwithstanding that I'm the type who enjoys tinkering in the garage.

I have the same setup and 3,000 rpm in 5th gear puts me at 75 mph indicated. So, 80 mph would be 3,200 rpm. I cruise at 3,000 rpm for the mpg (and lower risk of getting pulled over), and get over 29 (29.5 calculated by trip odometer and gallons filled, confirmed last Sunday on a 100-mile not-flat highway journey).

Fun fact - 75 mph indicated is 71 mph by GPS. I am running close to factory rolling diameter, 215/40-17.

Winning. Even cheaper than mine, including making money off of selling the E36 parts.

Good post OP! I'm getting an M52 professionally installed right now and this totally backed up the decision moreso. Looking forward to DD my 318i when I get it back.
