    linkage problem

I've searched already in the DOHC bible and others,

but wich shift linkage should I use on the ZF tranny M50 combo

-The E34 ZF linkage is longer and IMO it can't fit in the E30
-Or the Getrag one from my stock Getrag 260 gearbox ??

    TIA AXL Cohen.

i used the stock e36 m3 shift linkage in my car and actually hooked it all up last night. It sits slightly off center towards the passenger side but there is ample room to shift into all the gears and I don't forsee any problems. I just bought used E36 shift carrier, lever, and selector rod, and bought all new bushings and fasteners, total was about $50 for everything. Good luck

can't answer that one for you, I asked and everyone told me to use the linkage from an E36 M3, you can probably use one from a euro E36 M3 gearbox, I'm pretty certain it's all the same, because you can use a US E36 m3 gearbox with a euro S50 motor, which means they are the same overall length, so the linkage should still line up properly

This is what I used (S50 w/ZF Trans):

          (Click)

          e30 shifting arm - 25111221201
          e30 shift lever bearing - 25111220600
          e30 selector rod - 25111221657 (not 100% on this, but almost :) )
          z4 3.0 shift lever - 25117516160

          (Click)

          I used the e36 m3 bitch clip (bearing bolt) - 25111221849

Let me know if you need more pictures.

it looks to me like your setup is slightly off to the passenger side...is this correct? Mine is too, but seems like it will shift without a problem...

            TIA

Yep, it is slightly off. But it doesn't affect the shifting, nor can you tell when the shift boot is on.

Huh, Mine does that too, it really pisses me off. Its definatly noticable but again dosnt effect the shifting.

I'm assuming you're saying its popping out of gear.

It has nothing to do with it being off to the side.

Take your tranny to the tranny shop.

                      That is all.

I thought you had to use the shifting arm from the e36/34 zf tranny. Good to know.

kinnda unrelated but the part shown with the white numbers on it. What was done to get that installed? Just drop the drive shaft or the tranny too?

You can get it out with the DS in.

The carrier is held in by two bolts. The one in the back you can see and the one that connects to the tranny.

If you unbolt the tranny crossmember, you'll have just enough room to get the "bitch" clip out and the carrier out. It will take some time and persistence.
