S50 Swap question. Pulling stuff off donor car

    HI Guys,

I bought a rolled over car, (92 325i E36) that has had an S50 swap done to it. Along with a stage 2 AA Tuning turbo kit on it. (98 M3 drivetrain, with the OBD1 swap already done to it.)

I am wanting to take the engine, tranny, wiring, and driveshaft out, and put it in my 88 E30. I know the turbo manifold will not fit, but I am hoping to use the turbo at least, and maybe the wastegate and bov.

I need to get stuff pulled asap, so I can get the rolled E36 car out of my driveway.

Question on the wiring. Do I only need the wiring that goes to the computer? or all the other misc stuff, like horn, etc etc. I was able to pull the wiring harness and computer, but the fuse box is still there. Do I need all this too? I didnt think I did...but I would hate to scrap the car only to need some other stuff.

What else do i need from the E36?

Im grabbing the aluminum arms where the motor mounts go, though one may be junk. The engine, and tranny, and driveshaft. Also the M3 short throw shifter (AA tuning), and anything else on the engine and tranny.

Cant wait to get this thing out, and in my 88 vert.

Just want to be sure I grab everything I need while I still have the donor.

    Thanks!

Grab as much as you can so you won't regret it later. You need the entire engine harness.

Yes you need the engine harness but that's all, not the rest of it. you use all the horn and fuse block components out of your e30. grab them tho.

If its a 98 M3 shaft (4 bolt on the diff side) then it will work. That's what I am using. And you will need e36 aluminum motor arms for the swap, just make sure they are not cracked or damaged in any way after rollover.
Should be a nice project and a fast e30. GL

          Thanks guys for the help.

Yes its a 4 bolt M3 shaft, so it should work perfect.

Once I get the engine pulled out I will see how bad the aluminum E36 motor arms are. Judging by the rest of the car, I think it rolled multiple times....so they may be totally junk.

Looks like the AKG motor mounts are the way to go.

What about radiator? Mishimoto rad, but do I get an E30 fitment, or E36 fitment?

Im hoping to pull the engine this weekend. I am also hoping to pull the engine with the turbo still attached to the manifold. I cant see anyway to get the turbo out by itself. May see if I can reach the manifold bolts, and remove the manifold and turbo as an assembly, before i pull the engine.

          Thanks
          Jay

You can use late model e30 or e36 radiators. I like the m42 radiators to keep the bay clean having a built in expansion tank but your setup may already be built to fit the e36 rad setup
